About Becki & Jon
In 2001, Becki Gilliam introduced the Classical Pilates Method to the Ellis County area and opened the Pilates Studio, a studio dedicated to teaching and preserving the classical technique of the Pilates Method as developed by Joseph H Pilates.
She completed her two year Pilates Certification at The Pilates Center of Austin, which demanded complete training on all of the Pilates apparatus from beginner to advanced levels, including over 450 apprenticeship hours. Since 2004, she has been an active member of the Pilates Method Alliance ® (PMA®) which is the international, not–for–profit, professional association dedicated to the teachings of Joseph H. and Clara Pilates.
In addition, Becki has studied and received other certifications:
- 1993 – Physical Fitness Specialist from Cooper Clinic, Dallas, TX.
- 1999 – Instructor Training for Physiosynthesis from Oasis Body Condition Center, Dallas, TX.
- 1999 – Pilates Matwork Certification from Physical Mind Institute, Santa Fe, NM.
- 2000 – Associate Degree in Physical Fitness Technology from North Lake College, Irving, TX.
- 2004 – Licensed Massage Therapist through the Texas Department of Health, Texas.
- 2007 – Teacher Certification for PraiseMoves, Tulsa, OK.
- 2010 – Bower Therapy Continuing Education Training, Dallas, TX.
Annually Becki continues to complete numerous continuing education hours to keep all her certifications current.
In 2005, Becki purchased the ROM: 4-Minute Cross-Trainer machine to add a cross training aspect to the studio. At that point the studio name changed to include the machine, ROM & Pilates Studio. This added a diversification to the studio and opened new doors for clients for fitness.
In 2007, our Lord in heaven called Becki to turn the focus of her business to include more of a spiritual emphasis. Through much prayer with her soul mate, Jon, they were led to the studio’s theme verse.

Since then many new doors for opportunity to encourage clients what they refer to as Body Stewardship, learning to manage the most valuable gift God has given us, our bodies.
This additional twist on the studio called for another name change to TEMPLE Wellness Studio. The name TEMPLE indicates the desire in sharing what the Lord is calling both Becki and Jon to do.
In January 2011, we will branch outside of the Studio to offer Pilates & the Word Classes in churches in the community. Watch for information to come. This will be a combination of a Pilates Mat-class taught using the Pilates Classical Methods and a Bible Study with the focus of developing a stewardship mentality in caring for the Temple of the Holy Spirit that resides within each of us.
Summer of 2009, the Far Infrared Sauna was added as a support to the wellness concepts of the studio following Becki’s accident: falling 12 feet out of a tree. The detoxifying benefits of the joints and muscles have definitely been a lifesaver for her, as well as Jon.
Jon Ray Gilliam, Becki’s soul mate and partner, helps support Becki in the studio not only in spirit but coaching the ROM clients during their workout. Does he understand physical fitness? YES! Jon was fortunate to participate in two bowls and three conference championships with what is now Texas A & M Commerce. He was the center and captain for the Kansas City Chiefs for eight seasons and played in the first Super Bowl. Does he understand aches, pains and how important body conditioning is? YES!
Becki and Jon both work as many others do in overcoming the struggles of the world today; the fast pace of life, the poor food choices and laziness against exercise. They desire to come along beside their clients and help each to succeed. Becki passionately promotes Pilates as the ideal exercise system for all bodies.
Potential clients are welcomed to the home studio in order to explore how to improve their overall wellness. As the Bible says in Job 14:5, “Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with You; and his limits You have set so that he cannot pass.” The Lord only knows how many days we will live on earth; we cannot add years to our life, BUT we can add life to those years we have left.
Becki’s Life Mission:
To live freely, animated and motivated by the Holy Spirit, in such a way that it does not make sense unless God exists, tht I am aware of His involvement and guidance in my life, and that I am glorifying Him in all I do. Then I share and encourage others to do the same.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do (being physically active), do it for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
